[ooc; This post is not for the squeamish. i was going to make it a voice post, but Lady-mun is a terrible enabler. /disclaimer]
[The communicator's obviously been knocked over, and Vergil pays it no mind, where he's visible, stripped to the waist and his back to the audience he's unaware of. From here, the view of his shoulder and the empty hole where his right arm should be is quite clear, and it's a mess: It was a clean cut, for the most part, that took of his arm, but it's never comforting to see the red and pink of muscle and white of bone that shouldn't be exposed.
He favors that side, greatly, his left hand braced under the spot on his right side as though to protect it from jarring as he makes his way to the stove, which due to the weather seems to constantly be in use. Once there, his hand drops from his side and he opens the front of the stove, giving the impression he's going to add more coal to the fire.
And he is. Just not right now.
Instead, the long piece of metal he's been utilizing as a fire poker is used to scrape the red-hot coals to the front of the stove, some spilling on to the door, which hangs open. There's a moment where he rummages around with his good hand, before finding his belt, which has long since been rendered useless, and its intent becomes apparent as he doubles it and bites down on it.
A moment passes, and he takes a few deep, slow breaths, eyes closed, before he opens them once more.
The next moment has him shoving the stunted remains of his shoulder directly into the coals themselves. He doesn't make a sound, but every muscle across his torso, neck, and jaw tightens in pain, and there's a hiss, along with a hazy cloud of steam billows forth from the stove. Seconds pass, and the steam obscures Vergil for a moment, before he shifts and heaves his shoulder out of the hotbed he's shoved it in, and the twitching of muscles in his back is plainly visible.
It's obvious he's fighting the urge to completely pass out, before it, too, passes, and he reaches up, pulling the belt from his mouth. It hangs on his fang teeth, where it's bitten clean through it, before it comes away, and he tosses it aside with a slight noise of disgust.
His shoulder, disgusting before, is nothing but a mess of red and black charred flesh, but he pays it no mind as he goes about the second part of his errand, which involves pulling the biggest pot he could find in the domicile he and Lady share full of water on top of the stove. It's purpose is also made somewhat clear, as Vergil moves out of frame a moment, before returning once more, his severed arm in hand. It's too big to fit in the pot as it is, and he frowns at it a moment, before setting aside and disappearing once more.
Yamato is in hand when he returns, unsheathed and clean from his previous fight, and in one quick, smooth, and precise motion, he separates the arm into two pieces at the elbow, before propping Yamato against the chair that's just visible. That done, the pieces of arm are gathered, and he makes his way to the pot and drops them in.
That done, he finally turns in the direction of the communicator, and his face is a ghastly pasty shade of white, though his expression is fairly indifferent. On spotting the communicator, he strides over, raising an eyebrow.]
Now how did you get down here.
[Only then does he realize it's on, and he snorts, before cutting it off.]
As the weather wanes, many of us might be in confusion as to what we should wear. Do you pull out the light knit sweaters and stow the tank tops? Do you tone down the colors of your vibrant summer wardrobe? Do you start wearing closed-toe pumps instead of strappy sandals? Well, this article will answer all of your questions about what to wear at this time of year. I will highlight the top five trends for late summer, early fall 2008. You may be surprised by what you can continue to wear and what you need to put in storage for next year.
Belted Jackets. This staple has been a fashion favorite since “Dynasty”, except our version does not have shoulder pads. This hot look is defined by a cinched in silhouette and short sleeved or sleeveless profile. These jackets work well with cropped trousers, a favorite dress, or a fluted skirt. If you want to keep the look clean, wear this belted jacket in colors of white, cream, ecru and khaki.
Bright Colors + Balance. Good news, you can still wear your sunshine yellows and hot pinks, but it is time to balance them out with a bit of neutral. Add a beige, cream, or navy skirt or pant (no black, it’s too early in the year for that!) to a vivid top or dress to make your wardrobe a little more appropriate for this time of year. Another option is to wear bright accessories instead of bright articles of clothing; either choice will keep your ensemble fresh. Just remember, you cannot wear bright accessories and bright clothing, you have to pick one or the other or else you will look garish.
Disco Queen. Seventies glam is so hip right now, but be warned the trend differs slightly for day and evening wear. For daytime wear, be bold in statement jewelry worn around the arms, wrists, or neck. For evening wear, relive the languid glamour of Studio 54 in glitterball sequins, gold accents, and slinky jumpsuits. Be bold with this trend and try it all, but just not all at once!
Go Grey. Grey is the new black for this time of year, so wear it from head-to-toe for the most dramatic effect. Vary shades from silver to heather for a very streamlined, earthy, but fashionable effect. Keep this sophisticated with relaxed tailoring in luxurious fabrics such as cashmere and silks. Try this trend in fluted skirts, high-waisted pants, fitted blazers, and fedora hats. Due to the subtly of this trend, it is appropriate to wear day or night.
Bold Prints. Since the weather is still warm, summer dresses in bold prints are the way to go. Keep this trend simple with a sheath dress and wear with chunky accessories for a contemporary look. Feminine florals is contrasted well with a tailored jacket and sophisticated footwear.
So there you have it, these trends are the way to go to stay relevant and fashionable for the late summer, early fall 2008 season. From belted jackets to fabulous prints, you will look great if you try these trends. As with everything, a little practice will make perfect. So feel free to experiment with a couple of trends at once, just don’t go overboard. As always, good luck and happy shopping!
